Place the 1 cup of sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook gently, without stirring, but shaking occasionally until the sugar has melted. Continue cooking until the sugar has completely melted, and turned golden brown. Pour into a large baking dish. Spread the caramel evenly over the bottom of the dish, then set aside to cool for 15 minutes before proceeding.
In another container, break the 3 eggs. Add the coconut powder to the eggs and mix well.
Add the 4 cups of concentrated milk, followed by vanilla essence. Mix all well.
Pour the mixture into the dish containing the caramel.
Preheat the oven to 200 ° C and place a large dish half filled with water in the oven. The flan will cook in a bain-marie. Allow to cook for 45 mins until it sets.
When done, remove from oven and let cool for 30 minutes. Run a knife around the edges of the dish to separate the flan from the sides. Turn the dish upside down. Refrigerate for 30 mins and serve.
